Oregon WI Homes for Sale

Among the 100 Best Small Places to Live

The Village of Oregon is located in the southern half of Dane county, approximately 7 miles south of Madison. It is a great place for those who enjoy a small town feel in a family friendly community. In 2011, Oregon was named one of the “100 Best Small Places to Live” by CNN Money.

First settled in 1841, Oregon, WI was initially known as Rome Corners. The village adopted Oregon in 1864, when the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company came through and changed the name. There are many of the village’s historical buildings still standing on the south side of the village. The most recognizable of these buildings is the Red Brick School, which was originally built as the village’s high school in 1922. The peaceful, quaint setting of Oregon has made it one of the most desirable locations for families looking to utilize the village’s nationally recognized school system.
